I will be working with middle school and high school students that have signed up with the city of Redwood City, through their parks & recreations department.  This national program actually originated in Redwood City years ago.

Previously, I and my 2 high schoolers also worked as tutors with Project Read finding it to be rewarding for student and tutor. There is a 6-month commitment for a minimum of 1 hour per week.  I have comitted to that requirement.  All work is done via zoom calls.

There is training involved 2-3 days for a few hours each night (before COVID), but since I was previously trained, a 1 hour refresher is mandatory and will occur this week (Feb.4th, 2021).  I have requested to work with students vs. adults.

All work will be done via zoom conference calls that are arranged through the city of Redwood City.

I had my first meeting with the core team of Project Read team on Thursday,

February 4, 2021:

>    Kathleen Endaya || Project Read Director, who heads up the program for the City of Redwood City, and has responsibility for reporting activities to County ( San Mateo).  She founded the group.

>    Monique Rodriguez
Student/Tutor Coordinator ~ Families in Partnership
Project READ, Redwood City

It was a 65 minute training re-fresher as I have worked with Project Read prior.  I did have to be fingerprinted as I would be working with
minors.  The commitment is for a minimum of 6 months and at least 1 hour per week scheduled via PR's zoom account.
An assignment of a student will be this coming week, and I have a zoom brush up class for teachers, leaders, etc.
A weekly accounting of time spent and work done with student will be documented.

I asked if could could record the meetings for documentation purposes to Ms. Andrews.  That is not allowed.  Project Read leaders will drop
in on a random, unannounced basis
